Department of Planning & Community Development
is guided by the desire to improve the
quality of life in Washington County by implementing strong economic
growth strategies while maintaining our rural character. We are here
to serve the businesses and residents of Washington County. If you have
any questions concerning planning or economic development issues or for
information on land use regulations, county planning board referrals,
census data, flood hazard maps, in-service training, tourism & recreation
or socio-economic statistics, please contact us.
Department Services &
Activities:
■
Conduct in-service
training on planning and land use controls
■
Provide professional
advisement services on land use controls and comprehensive plans to local
municipalities
■
Disseminate census
and other socio-economic statistics
■
Disseminate flood hazard information
■
Provide grant
information & support to local municipalities and their subdivisions
■
Serve as Washington
County's representative for the following organizations: Greater
Adirondack Resource Conservation & Development Council, Agriculture &
Farmland Protection Board, Lakes to Locks Passage,
New York State Association of County Planning Directors, Champlain Watershed
Improvement Coalition of NY and the Washington County Water Quality
Committee

Provide support
services to the Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board, Washington
County Historic Preservation Council, Washington County Association of
Snowmobile Clubs, Washington County Tourism Association, and the
Washington County Local Development Corporation
■
Assist MS4
(Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems) communities to meet the
requirements of Phase II SPDES (State Pollution Discharge Elimination
Systems Act) General Permits
■
Act as staff to the
Washington County Planning Board
