WRAP is a program administered by NYSOFA and area Aging Agencies. It
consists of energy case management to provide safe, affordable, energy
efficient housing to low income, energy vulnerable elderly. The successful
efforts of this program encourages senior independence and allows them to
live out their lives in their own homes with improved quality of life.
Eligible clients will initially be flagged through the HEAP roster. OFA
outreach personnel will be referring clients who have obvious
energy-related deficits or who show an interest in weatherization and
safety issues.
Those clients eligible for the program will have an on-site evaluation
to determine the needs of the home. Options and a plan of action will be
discussed to be sure all of the concerns of the client are being
addressed. Referrals to appropriate agencies and estimates from
contractors will be obtained and family and community resources will be
explored for funding. Coordination of services and their quality will be
followed to completion.
As the WRAP program progresses, a more active outreach plan will take
place. Many options for outreach could include representation in community
activities and media advertising.
Currently, HEAP processing is the priority, however any immediate need
of our seniors will be addressed.
