Caregiver Respite Program
Caregiver service is for anyone caring for an elderly or disabled person.
If caring for this person restricts you from getting to the doctor’s office
or to a support group or even away to attend a family gathering, then the
caregiver support service would be for you.
The Washington County Office for the Aging is offering respite services
through Home Instead Senior Care, a non-medical home care provider. These
services are available to provide companionship, supervision and some
assistance with personal needs so that a regular caregiver can have a break.
Eligibility for respite service requires demonstration of a committed care
giving relationship, and an inability to access respite services through other
means as determined by a financial assessment given by the case manager. If
not eligible, the case manager will discuss other options open to them.
The Washington County Office for the Aging will pay the full cost of these
services for all approved in-home respite. A donation of $5.00 per hour is
suggested to support the continuation of these services, but no one will be
denied service because of an inability to make a donation.
Support Groups
There are a variety of support groups dealing with
Bereavement and Alzheimer’s throughout Washington/Warren County. For listing
of support groups contact this office.
