Law Enforcement Center Administration Department Mission Undersheriff Matthew Mabb   Undersheriff Matthew Mabb began his career in the Sheriff’s Office in June, 1979. He served as a Correction Officer until 1981 and then transferred to the Road Patrol Division as a Patrol Officer. In 1985 he left the Department and took a position as Investigator with the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. In 1996 he returned to the Sheriff’s Office as Undersheriff. He has attended numerous police training schools and has qualified as a Level 2 arson investigator. He has also been the Washington County STOP-DWI Coordinator since 1996. Undersheriff Mabb has an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Adirondack Community College.   Administration Department is responsible for processing payroll information and collecting fees for: issuing gun permits, producing police reports, boarding non-County inmates, providing security, and operating the jail kitchen. This Department is also responsible for the day to day management of the established budget. In order to accomplish this task the Sheriff is assisted by the Undersheriff, Lieutenant and the clerical staff. Records Department is responsible for the filing, storage and security of all records generated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. This is all accomplished by a computerized record keeping system. The Records Department is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30AM until 4:30PM. They will gladly assist the public in obtaining copies of records to include incident reports and motor vehicle accident reports. They will also be able to assist you in the procedure for obtaining a New York State Pistol License. You may contact this office directly at 746-2475.
