Investigations

The Investigation Division at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is led by Sr. Investigator Tony LeClaire. There are a total of 4 investigators who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on a rotation basis, to respond to emergency investigative needs.

Primary Function
The primary function of the Investigations is to conduct follow-up investigations of crimes reported by Road Patrol. The Investigations Division conducts investigations on
  • Homicides
  • Sexual assault / battery
  • Child abuse
  • Armed robbery
  • Missing persons
  • Fatal motor vehicle accidents
  • Crimes against the elderly
Investigators often work with and assist outside agencies.

Follow Up Investigations
Investigators are also tasked with follow up investigations on
  • Auto thefts
  • Burglaries
  • Embezzlement
  • Forgery
  • Fraud
  • Identity theft
  • Thefts
