Pre-Trial Services

Program Goals
  • To facilitate jail bed openings
  • To make recommendations for release and/or eligibility for other pre-trial options to the courts utilizing a statistically reliable risk / need assessment called COMPAS (Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions)
  • To provide objective information to the courts in Washington County regarding failure to appear for jail detainees who are incarcerated pre-trial due to lack of bail funds
  • To supervise adult offenders and/or juvenile offenders who are placed on electronic monitoring as a graduated sanction instead of sending them to detention or jail
  • To supervise offenders released under supervision (RUS) to electronic monitoring

Target Population
All un-sentenced inmates held in the Washington County Jail are screened for pre-trial release eligibility as outlined by the New York State Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives pre-trial guidelines.
